March turned out to be quite a busy month for us truckers. One load would lead to another and then another. We were zipping in and out of different seasons everyday. In the past 17 days we've logged over 10,000 miles! One night we passed thru Marion, Illinois and I made a 'homecooked' meal in the truck for my son, Danny. It's always fun to see him and I know he appreciated the ham dinner. One day we were treated to awesome views with countless saguaro cacti. I wore myself out taking pictures on that trip. With all these miles behind us, needless to say, we're taking the weekend off to visit family and friends here in Brownsville. We have a lot of the agenda but Jorge promises me a trip out to South Padre Island to dip our toes in the Gulf of Mexico while we are here. We'll see if we can squeeze that in. I have officially declared it to be spring and I'm washing all our winter coats and gear to be stored until next year. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part since we were just in an Ohio snowstorm two days ago but I'm done with winter and hoping the power of positive thinking keeps us in sunny, warm, spring-like locations thru April.
While we're taking the weekend off and giving the truck a little break in the action, we found a mechanic here to do a few necessary things to it. Along with the usual oil and filter change, we're also getting the belts and hoses replaced. Nothing serious is wrong with it and for that we are grateful. It seems like except for the engine, we have replaced most of the major parts on it over the past couple years.
My pictures this week include a lot of southwest scenes. One load we delivered was part of a crane to an Arizona copper mine that took us thru parts of the state we've never seen before. This state of my birth truly has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.
We'll be ready to roll on April 1st. Let's see what adventures and destinations are in our near future. We just never know from day to day as we fly by the seat of our pants.
