Our time in Indiana was well spent. The shop was able to fix a generator issue that we've had almost since we bought it last year. Also new shocks under the sleeper will hopefully make for a smoother ride and better sleeping. We slept thru a snow storm one night and lunched at one of our favorite Amish restaurants in Shipshewana before we left for our next run.
We picked up a load in Hannibal, Missouri last Monday and unbelievably delivered it the next day in Tonopah, Nevada - about three hours north of Las Vegas. This was an incredible trip as we zoomed across the state of Missouri with another Midwest snow storm looming. Our timing was good and we didn't see a flake until we got up to Wyoming and Utah and then it wasn't too bad. Our intentions had been to take the southern route but news of Amarillo, Texas expecting 20 inches of snow was enough for us to choose the northern route instead. It doesn't happen often but we had the pleasure of riding on a new road once we hit the Nevada line. We turned south and crossed the state thru no-mans-land and some very scenic territory. There is much to see but hardly any people live thru there. With no phone or internet signal, we were just happy the truck didn't breakdown!
With our delivery made, we headed south to Las Vegas for a couple days here with Steve and Francis. Emma was here for several days too so it was fun to get together with all of them. Steve made me a birthday dinner a couple days late but it was delicious none-the-less. I've finished adding numbers for the taxes and it's now in the CPA's hands. We should know the results of that in the next couple weeks. And our mail had a few things in it we needed to get our hands on so it was an all-around good stop for us this week. Not to mention the late night trips to the hot tub... We even talked Jorge into joining us last night. That's no small feat.
It's back to work for us tomorrow as we head back north again. We'll pick up a load in the little Nevada town of Hawthorne and take it over to Salt Lake City. That should get us back in the groove and moving again. We're still looking for that elusive load that takes us back south. We've become accustomed to these daytime temps in the 70s and it will be hard to leave those behind. We just washed the last layer of salt and de-icer off the truck. I'd like to keep it that way!
