Since our mini-vacation in Las Vegas just over a week ago, we've been busy making giant circles out west. Our goal was to get south and stay south as much as possible but the loads just weren't there. It was an easy run over to Salt Lake City with a couple of empty shipping containers. The weather was perfect. The day after that delivery we picked up a load of insulation going to Phoenix. That was a pretty ride thru the Utah backroads. The last few times we've been thru there it had been at night. This was a sunny day and the camera was busy. There is so much to see out there. We made it to Phoenix long enough to drop off a load of insulation at a jobsite there and turned around, headed back to a little town north of Reno. That route had us going right back thru Las Vegas and it worked out well to stop and meet Steve and Francis for a quick supper at the Outback. And in northern California, we picked up an Army vehicle that needed to go to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to be refurbished. We thought we had plenty of time on that trip across the country but looking at the weather map told a different story. A new storm system had caught up with us and if we stopped at all, we would have been right in the middle of a blizzard. I drove a few white-knuckled snowy miles thru a couple of mountain passes in Nevada and after that, it was hammer down. Though it was a wet ride all the way over here, at least it was just rain and not the snow. I'm thinking one more month of worrying about the weather and it should be smooth sailing after that.
We unloaded one vehicle here in Oshkosh this morning and will load up another one that we'll take down to Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow. Finally.... we'll head south and I'm hoping to sunshine and warmth. We haven't seen the sun for days!
