Ok... first question. What's up with every W in this post today? It reminds me of an old typewriter with a broken key. Can any of you more computer-savvy people clue me in? You'll see what I mean by then end of this.
People are wondering what happened to me so I need to catch up on where we've been and where we're going. We've done nothing but run back and forth across the country, in and out of the changing seasons, for the past two weeks. We dropped off this big ol' boiler at a nursing home in Pennsylvania and ran over to Newark, Delaware the same day. After several hours of waiting and watching the snow flurries, we finally loaded up some boiler parts that needed to get out to Waterflow, NM as quickly as possible. Driving from Delaware to New Mexico we started out in the cold, warmed up to see the forsythias and daffodils blooming across the south, and woke up the morning of delivery with a couple inches of snow on top of our load. It melted quickly and we delivered those parts to a coal power plant with no problem. We weren't very far some the famous Four Corners area and considered going to see it when a load came up out of El Paso, Texas that needed a ride over to Savannah, Georgia. So we headed south and picked it up last Friday. It was a load of ATVs that were made in Mexico, brought across the border to El Paso, and loaded onto our truck. We zoomed across the USA with them and dropped them off at a Georgia port location where they were to be loaded on a ship and sailed down to Brazil. Go figure! Who plans this stuff?? For all that time and money spent getting them there, it seems easier to fly them over there. No wonder shipping costs are high. We don't ask questions though ~ we just do what we're told. We no sooner dropped them off when we started the 100 miles north to Charleston, South Carolina where were picked up seven empty military shipping containers that had been refurbished and were going back to an army depot in Herlong, California. That's the trip we're currently doing. We are making big circles around the country as we're back in New Mexico again today~ less than a week later! If all goes according to plan, we'll make a quick stop in Las Vegas as we pass by the house tomorrow morning to pick up the mail and visit with my two nieces, Ally and Emma. Allison is home from college on spring break and getting a little quality sister-time in with Emma so that should be fun, though short and sweet. We don't have another load lined up after this one yet and it won't hurt our feelings if we just sit and relax for the weekend. Depending on what pops up, that may be what happens. Jorge would like a trip back toward Louisville, Kentucky as there is going to be a big truck show there next week. So we may or may not make it to that. Time will tell.
Meanwhile, I"ve surprised myself at the crafty ambition I've had the past couple months. I've been a knitting and crocheting fool. Unfortunately I can't post pictures of the finished products since this in going to be an all homemade Christmas this year and I don't want to spoil the surprises. So those pictures will come at the end of the year but suffice it to say, my little fingers have been busy. I'll jump into the passenger seat while Jorge is driving with a new ball of yarn and his response is always the same, 'Now what are you making?'
All this driving is keeping us from doing our walks we'd been so faithfully doing. As soon as we deliver this load, we're renewing our resolve to get out and walk. It's given us proven results but we can't quit yet. We have a bet to win! We'll check on the competition with this stop in Las Vegas tomorrow!
