After all those miles, we were ready to take the weekend off in Jacksonville. We had two missions. For the fourth time since New Year's Day, we were having an issue with our brake lights. So we planned to get that irritating problem fixed...again. The other, more important thing we needed to do was get Rocky to a vet. For several weeks we'd noticed he wasn't eating right and sometimes even walking away from his food bowl. Those of you who know Rocky well, know he rarely turns down the opportunity to eat. Then one recent night during his regular nightly routine of bringing us his rawhide bone and asking for some peanut butter on it, we heard him yelp while chewing it. Jorge checked inside his mouth and found one of his big back teeth was seriously cracked and loose. So I got on the phone and found a vet in Jacksonville that could check him out Friday afternoon after we made our delivery. The vet determined the tooth needed to come out. So the poor boy suffered thru that ordeal yesterday. In addition to that tooth, after he got into surgery, the doctor ended up pulling out two other teeth that had fractured. Needless to say, the rawhide bones are no longer in the truck and Rocky has been reduced to a diet of soft food for at least the next ten days. He's been an excellent patient though. No whining or crying like I'm sure I would have been doing had it been me in the dentist's chair!
Last night we made our way up to Charleston, South Carolina. There we picked up another military load at the Naval Weapons Station this morning. This time we're taking an airplane fuselage to Tucson, Arizona. We keep saying we're going to stay on the east side of the country but our dispatcher keeps finding us good-paying loads going back west. We are not complaining... too much. Once we get over to Tucson, we may have to take the truck to a generator repair shop. It comes on but for some reason it's not charging the batteries. Good grief! It seems like all we do is just run from one shop to the next these days. It's the nature of the beast when you own a truck like this that covers so many miles though. It's the money-maker AND money-taker!
Here are a few pictures from our past week.
