We've had a busy week picking up and delivering commercial-sized air conditioners to various locations around Texas. We picked the first bunch up over in Panama City, Florida. We missed the biggest rains where they had received something like 14" of precipitation there but it was a wet ride none-the-less - all the way to our first stop just north of Dallas. After that we had stops in Waco, near San Antonio, and finally Houston. Since we cannot seem to drive past a repair shop these days without having to get something fixed, we did make a stop for a new thermostat along the way as well. That kept us busy til Thursday when we drove up to Tyler, Texas to get the next load of a/c units. While loading at the first stop, we noticed one of the units was hanging over the edge of the trailer by a couple inches on both sides. At that point it went from being a regular load to an over-sized load. In addition to giving us an extra $600 to take it, we also had to abide by the rules listed in the permits from each state we'd be passing thru which said we could not drive after dark. That suited us just fine. So we've been taking our sweet time going from Texas up to Colorado Springs, which is our first stop in the morning. We'll unload the oversized items tomorrow. After another quick unload near Denver, we'll be free to run up to Portland, Oregon with no restrictions to make our last stop. We haven't been up there in a long time and figured it was a good time of the year to go to the Pacific Northwest. We should be delivering there Wednesday morning.
Jorge is spending his Father's Day piddling around with little things he needed to do with the truck. Rocky and I watched from under a shade tree while I crocheted and Rocky just enjoyed getting out of the truck. That is until the sprinklers started to go off and quickly put an end to our outdoor time. The temps here today are very comfortable. We are planning to take a long walk tonight and try to get back into an exercise groove. Vacation had us slacking on that and we can feel the difference.
We shall see what kind of load we can get out of the Portland area coming back east. I like those long cross-country runs with alot of time on them. That gives us time to stop, sleep, and find some fun things to do along the way.
