Back on the road this week after spending about five days off in Brownsville, Texas. Hats off once again to Jorge's cousin Lulu and her husband, Henry who threw the biggest birthday party for a two-year-old that I've ever seen. They did Sesame Street proud. It was a great opportunity for Jorge to see a majority of his family all in one place though he couldn't resist the urge to cross the border into Mexico. Both to see more family and sample what he says are the best tacos. I drop him off on one side of the bridge and he walks across where a family member picks him up and takes him to the house. It wasn't very many years ago that he could walk across the bridge and then make the short walk to the family home but that is no longer safe to do.
Easter Sunday was very nice. I have a friend, Michelle, who was a highschool classmate of mine and lives with her family down near Brownsville. We joined them for church services and then for a great dinner at her house afterwards. We always enjoy the chance to get together and marvel at the chances we would both end up at the southern tip of Texas. She tries hard to convince me it's a great place to live, and though I'm sure it is, I'm content to be an occasional visitor.
From Brownsville we went to Houston and then to Louisiana. Did a Fort Polk, La. to Fort Hood, Tx. run to move an army vehicle. Then drove up north of Fort Worth where we got another load that we will deliver tomorrow morning here in Tucson. At this point we have no idea what direction we'll go from here. We'll learn more in the morning on that front. Meanwhile, it was a year ago we bought our generator right here in Tucson and that place just happens to be literally right around the corner from where we are making our delivery. We are thinking of stopping by there and having them clean it up for us as long as we're right here. We also need to find a shop that can recharge the air conditioning. Summer is coming and we are already using it. It seems like it could be a little colder and we're not in the high temps yet. So this is a good time to do that before we really need it.
One of our highlights this week was finding a guy who could make us a bike rack to put on the front of our trailer. We have been talking about doing this for a long time and finally it's done. So we had to run out and get some bikes to put on it. Today was actually the first chance we had to take a ride. I think we're going to really enjoy having them with us. A little more exercise can only be a good thing, right?
