Whew! Way behind on my travelogue, aren’t I? It gets away from me in no time.
Since my last entry, we went from Tempe, AZ to Denver with ‘Mary Poppins’. Our plan once we reached Denver was to cover the 1200 miles back to the house as quickly as possible so we could finish the packing and begin the loading. We were only days away from our goal of being happily homeless and we only had a small window of opportunity to get all the work done. I had to join Jorge in the packing fun this time and we managed to have it all ready by Saturday morning when the four laborers Jorge had hired were coming over to do the really hard work of loading. In a matter of about six hours, the house was empty. We slept the final night in our house on the floor in front of the fireplace thanking God that it had all gone so well. The weather even cooperated and we had several nice almost spring-like days to do what needed to be done. On Sunday, we met our buyers/renters for the first time and we like them. They seemed like real nice folks. We think it’s going to work out perfectly for them to move into our place on April 1st. I’ll miss the tulips that were just poking their tips out of the ground but will also miss out on the weeds that are sure to be close behind them.
Another piece of the puzzle that fell right into place, once we were done with the house business, that very night we picked up the show ‘Wicked’ right there at the theater in Dayton, just about twenty miles from our house. What were the chances that this would work out so well? We didn’t even request this show, it just appeared on our schedule. We thought it was funny since we’d never been to this theater before, how nice our plan came together for us. We filled up a big 48’ semi trailer full of our belongings. I don’t know where it all came from because we didn’t have that much stuff when we moved there from Las Vegas three years ago. We even gave one whole room of furniture away to a truck driver down on his luck and starting over and we still had so much stuff.
The only problem in this whole ordeal came when we were loading up the truck to leave. We had packed our silverware and kitchen utensils way too early in the packing process so we were ‘borrowing’ the box of them we use out in the truck just to get us thru those last few days at the house. When we got ready to leave town, I noticed our box of silverware was not in its place. I notice little things like that in the truck since it’s just a small little place. Apparently, one of our hard working loaders had packed it up and all the things we use everyday here in the truck, are now sitting somewhere ~ who knows where~ on our trailer along with everthing else we own. You know...needle / haystack? We’ve had to go out and replace everything already since we knew we’d never find it in that trailer.
We arrived in Richmond, VA with the show on Monday and now have the rest of the week to kill before we pick up our next show in Atlanta on Sunday. We do feel like a load has been lifted off our shoulders and we can now enjoy life out here on the road even more knowing we won’t have to get home and do the yard work. We will need this week to recuperate from the last week.

It's only when you're moving that you wish you hadn't been blessed quite so much. This was just a drop in the bucket of what is actually on the trailer now. In the meantime, we've parked our belongings in a secure lot and I told Jorge if we even think about buying another place in the next few years, pray we come to our senses. Home ownership is way over-rated... especially for truck drivers!
