The company has certainly given us time to recuperate from all the work we did at home. The past couple weeks have been pretty slow as far as driving goes. We slowly worked our way down to Atlanta for a big trip of 145 miles. It was a rainy week so that made us want to catch up on our sleep even more. We had always wanted to make a stop at Stone Mountain, Georgia but had never done it. On this trip from Richmond to Atlanta, we were practically going right by it so we decided to make a stop. I could see it had the potential to be a very neat place but the day we were there, it was chilly and somewhat drizzling rain, and everything was right at the point of blooming and budding out. We were too early in the season for the light show and other things they have at this state park starting in April. Then again, maybe it was better for us because had it been a nice day, the parking lots would have been full and I doubt we would have found a place to park the big truck, let alone been able to see the mountain thru the foliage. We didn’t climb the mountain but just took Rocky on a nice walk around the area. It's a perfect spot for hiking and camping.
We did the short run over to Greenville, SC and then have had all week to sit and wait on the show to play before we load it up Sunday night and take it to Dallas. We’re ready to get back to work and get a change of scenery. The weather here in South Carolina has been gorgeous and the flowering trees and spring flowers are in full bloom here.
I finally got all my tax numbers and papers together - in the mail and sent off to the CPA. Now we wait for the good or bad news, depending on whether or not we’ll have to pay. I recently came thru a 2007 tax audit with flying colors so between having no responsibilities on the homefront and no current issues with the IRS, I’m free to enjoy the spring as we begin to head out west for the next few weeks. Next stop on our never-ending tour... Dallas, Texas.

These are a few pictures from our stop at Stone Mountain State Park just east of Atlanta, Georgia.
This is a carved sculpture of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis that is on the side of the mountain. I was reading about it and apparently it was started back in the early 1900's but not finished until 1972. A cut to carve one of the elbows is actually 12 feet deep.
