It was a slow week as far as Broadway shows go. Summer is usually a slow time but the Memorial Day weekend left most of us without a show to move. In cases like this, the company resorts to contracting some general freight to haul in order to keep the drivers moving. We no sooner finished up in Costa Mesa when we had to head straight to Phoenix and pick up a moving van that needed to get to San Antonio. So we pulled that over there and still there was no rest for the weary – that being us. They had us go up to Shreveport, LA and pick up another trailer that needed to go to a little town called Liberty, Pennsylvania. I added up the miles and in one week we drove over 5100 miles. Forget what I was just saying about it being a relaxing job. This week, it WAS work!
Once we dropped our trailer in Liberty, it was such a beautiful day we decided to take a little ride on the backroads of north central Pennsylvania. We drove thru some of the cutest and quaintest little burgs and bouroughs. It was very scenic – like not much had changed in those little towns over the past fifty years. We topped the day off with a nice little barbeque in the truck. Several years ago Jorge devised a way to set the little gas grill near the front window to allow the smoke to just go outside. It all turned out very well.
We do have a show to move this coming weekend in Providence, Rhode Island. We will be moving ‘Jersey Boys’ from there to Indianapolis. That gives us the rest of this week to recover from last week!
