It sure feels good to get down to warmer weather. We actually slept with the windows open last night. A stark contrast to the past couple weeks where it was so cold the drain in the shower froze up. We spent a couple brutally cold days in Kansas City and worked our way towards Washington DC this past week. Now for just a few days we can pity the poor people who are driving up north. Next week we’ll be joining them.
We brought ‘South Pacific’ from Washinton, DC to Ft. Myers, Florida and are lucky enough to stay here with it while it plays for the rest of the week. Then Sunday we pick it all back up and take it to Newark, New Jersey. The praying for no snow will begin in earnest again.
It’s a never ending cycle of fixing something on the truck and as long as we’re parked for a few days, we’re going to put Big Red back in the shop. It has this annoying habit of running out of fuel while showing a quarter of a tank still on the gauge. The last time it happened we were only twenty feet from the truckstop fuel pumps. We thought they had fixed this while in Vegas over Christmas but apparently that shop didn’t do what we paid them to do. We’ll try again here in Florida. Other than that, we just have rest and relaxation on our plate for the week. We love our job!

This picture doesn't begin to show how beautiful the snowy Pennsylvania countryside was this week. We jumped off the interstate and took the backroads down to Washington. We just love to drive thru the little cities and towns, still looking for the perfect place to settle down next.
Another name for the US 40 is the Historic National Road. You see this sign all along it. This is a fun and scenic cross-country road to drive on and we've been on it in many places - even thru Englewood, Ohio before we ever bought a house there. This time we took it from Washington, Pennsylvania nearly to Washington, D.C.
I love the old barns, especially when their owners cared enough to put a fresh coat of paint on them.
We took a ton of pictures as we drove past the Washington Monument on our way to pick up the show at the Kennedy Center. We really want to get back to this area so we can just take a day and do some sight-seeing. It was nearly 9pm by the time we got down there. It's a wonder we didn't get stopped by the authorities because we traveled in our little five truck convoy but we were last and got held up at a red light. We didn't see where the rest of the trucks had turned and so we missed it, taking us down a very small road past the Iranian Consulate. Let's put it this way, we had no business being there but we eventually caught up with the group and avoided any unnecessary situations.
I just love this dog. Look at the carefree life he leads. He's got a million miles under his belt, most of them sleeping right here. I took this while I was driving to Flordia yesterday.
