As we wait for the ball to drop in Times Square in just minutes and see places in the background that we recognize from our trips to New York City, we are happy to be still here in Las Vegas - three hours from celebrating the start of 2012 in this time zone. Looking around the room, two of the four of us here are already asleep. Jorge and I are planning to go out just before midnight and see the fireworks display they will be shooting from the tops of all the casinos down on the Las Vegas strip. It's a sight we've seen before but it is always fun to watch again. It can be seen from all over the valley. We hear there is a record amount of people in town for the celebration but we were content to stay home, make a good home-cooked meal, take down the Christmas tree, and hang out with the family.
It's back to work soon for us. We will bring the truck here to the house tomorrow and start the loading process again. It's almost like moving in and out of a house to stop working for these two weeks we've been here. It will take some time to get everything packed up and back in it's place in the truck and then we'll be just one vehicle in the sea of people here in Vegas who are trying to get back down to southern California. Traffic promises to be a nightmare as we head to the port of Los Angeles to pick up a load we'll be pulling up to Indianapolis next week. We've enjoyed the hot tub, lots of time with Emma, too much good food, and the wonderful sunny and warm weather - but all good things must come to an end. We look forward to the new adventures that lie ahead in 2012.
Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
