For once a trip to the shop turned out to be a minor problem. Our TV is working well now thanks to a simple cable replacement. Jorge is getting caught up on all his shows he's been missing. We got that taken care of on Tuesday this week and picked up our next load not far from there in Rockford, Minnesota Wednesday morning.
That was a load of insulation going to a Tacoma, Washington ice rink that was being remodeled and it needed to be fully tarped. Ugh! Just after we swore off doing any more tarped loads – we do this! It turned out to good learning experience for us and we were pretty happy with our accomplishment when we finished. Off to Washington we went and delivered it Friday morning.

We thought we had seen the end of the pretty fall colors and then we got to Montana. Granted, the only color besides the evergreens was yellow, but they were at their peak. The ol’ dash cam got a workout that day. I’ve come to realize though that my pictures don’t do it justice. It is truly a sight to behold and I highly recommend if you ever get a chance to see western Montana and the Idaho panhandle for yourself, do it!
One day off and we picked up another load that is headed back east... and IT needed a full tarp! We had no idea how much work is involved in this operation until we started with this company. We really do need to lose those tarps though. Jorge has to crawl around all over the top of these loads to get the heavy thing just right while I’m strapping the bottom part down so it doesn’t blow off. It is as much fun as it sounds! This load is some kind of humvee parts for the military that we are taking to a body shop in Akron, Ohio to be painted and then take down to Frankfort, Kentucky. We’ve been doing this job for almost eight years now and I still cannot figure out some of the logistics of it. Like why can’t they paint these things in Washington where we got them and then we can just run them to Kentucky? Why the extra stop in Akron? Hmmmm… like I said, it doesn’t make a lot of sense sometimes but they are paying us to do it so we will do just that.
We are keeping our eye on the calendar as our much-needed time off approaches. We’ve been on the road since mid-July and we are ready for a break in the action.
